Artist's Description

A gondola passes by Santa Maria dei Miracoli, in Venice, creating an iconic scene while the sun settles in the distance, creating an interesting light balance.
Santa Maria dei Miracoli is an incredible Renaissance beauty, all in marble: it was designed by Pietro Lombardo and built between 1481 and 1489.

This image is shot on black&white film, so some graininess is intrinsic in this century old technique, but the detail and richness of shades is stunning.

About Riccardo Mottola

Riccardo Mottola

I am interested in photography, mainly traditional photography. I use film and manual cameras since I was 8 years old. My father photographs, my grand-father was a photographer and taught me the essentials of shooting and processing, my great-grandfather took pictures and I am proud to have and use his cameras. Today, in certain occasions, I side classic cameras with digital cameras, albeit I strictly use them without manipulation. Especially for aerial photography digital is an useful companion. I mark images strictly with the medium they were taken in. Black-and-white images are shot on film, developed by me and either scanned or printed by me.
