Artist's Description
Masks during the Carnevale Veneziano are holding a luminous glbe in their hands while dusk settles in.
The picture was shot with a historic Contax II camera with matching Sonnar from 1936, giving a sharp image, but a very unique and smooth out of focus.
About Riccardo Mottola
I am interested in photography, mainly traditional photography. I use film and manual cameras since I was 8 years old. My father photographs, my grand-father was a photographer and taught me the essentials of shooting and processing, my great-grandfather took pictures and I am proud to have and use his cameras. Today, in certain occasions, I side classic cameras with digital cameras, albeit I strictly use them without manipulation. Especially for aerial photography digital is an useful companion. I mark images strictly with the medium they were taken in. Black-and-white images are shot on film, developed by me and either scanned or printed by me.

Wonderful details and intricate designs on this trio of Carnevale actors. I like how I can see the lights of the city of Venice and the canal in the backdrop for it gives a strong sense of place on this cultural event.
