Blue crowned masks in Venice, while dusk is coming in.
The picture was shot with a historic Contax II camera with matching Sonnar from 1936, giving a sharp image, but a very unique and smooth out of focus.
I am interested in photography, mainly traditional photography. I use film and manual cameras since I was 8 years old. My father photographs, my grand-father was a photographer and taught me the essentials of shooting and processing, my great-grandfather took pictures and I am proud to have and use his cameras. Today, in certain occasions, I side classic cameras with digital cameras, albeit I strictly use them without manipulation. Especially for aerial photography digital is an useful companion. I mark images strictly with the medium they were taken in. Black-and-white images are shot on film, developed by me and either scanned or printed by me.

James Brunker
Excellent, lovely detail!
Riccardo Mottola replied:
Thank you James, the old lens and slide film captured the metallic details with the blue!
Chrystyne Novack
This one is my favorite of the set. Love the all the details in the costume from the intricate floral vine pattern on the sleeves to the pearl rings to the crown & hat to the Masks worn. I also love how I can see the city of Venice and the canal's water in the backdrop. Great portrait shot of these Carnavale performers! L/F
Riccardo Mottola replied:
Lots of detail in themasks in deed, their blue color is amazing and contrasts with the gold: thank you for aprpeciating. The touch of a "recognizable" Venice is my style and comes from the excellent 5cm ("50mm" in 1936 speak) lens!

Just Wonderful !! - l/f
Riccardo Mottola replied:
Thank you Daniel, it is also one of my favourite of that session!
